Whale & dolphin watching

Mirissa is one of the best places in the world to see blue whales in the wild — the largest animals on earth. Tours depart daily from Mirissa Harbour during season.

Tuk-tuks from LKR 200–500 for local trips. Scooter rentals around LKR 1,500/day. Everything in Mirissa is walkable along the beach road.

Mirissa has limited ATMs — withdraw cash in Matara or Galle before you arrive. Most restaurants and hotels accept cards, but smaller vendors are cash-only.

Ocean safety

Rip currents can be strong at certain beach sections. Swim between the flags and ask locals about conditions before entering the water.
